Announcements - May 9, 2009

Hi All,

This past year has been not all that good for most of us. A little more than a year ago Terry was presented with a new location for the 146.920 repeater. The new sight is not that far from the old sight but will rival the Northville Hospital. Once the bugs are worked out, the coverage for a single sight repeater will be phenomenal. In time Terry will let you all know of the new location, for the time being it should remain confidential.

Announcements - Continued

The location is among professional installations and we are limited to the space for our cabinet and antenna. At the present the antenna has been repaired but is one of the things that must be replaced with a gain and commercial type antenna. The location dictates what we can install. The height is limited to about twelve feet. A good gain antenna will cost in the range of $1000. Compare this to the antenna that we had on Northville that was purchased in the 80's for approximately the same and was 22 feet long.

As we all have heard in the past weeks, we are having digital interference in the receiver. Any where we go, now a days, all kinds of interference is prevalent. Dave, N8NTA, will be working with Terry on a new receiver that should cure this problem. Also the new receiver will reach out and pull in the weak signal. The new receiver will be about $500. When there is a new instillation there is also many small items that pop up and can run into hundreds of dollars.

We know that this is not the best of times to ask for contributions, BUT, if you can spare anything at all, please send it along, it will be greatly appreciated.

73 and talk to you soon,
Joe KB8RF
